Did I die?

In the five-year history of Punch Debt In The Face, I have never taken a two-week hiatus from blogging. I think a handful of my readers were legitimately concerned for my health, fearing that I was dead.

Unfortunately for you all, I’m not dead.

And neither is Punch Debt In The Face.

As many of you have guessed, I’ve spent the last two months attempting to be a not-sucky dad. For the most part, I’d say I’m pretty much kicking butt at #dadlife.

But every time I let myself think I’ve got everything figured out, I’m reminded I don’t.

Like the time I let my son pee in to his own mouth while I was getting him a new diaper.

Note to future parents of boys: always have a clean diaper immediately accessible prior to removing soiled diaper. Little dudes can easily pee five+ feet.

We are finally settling in to a groove and I expect that over the next few weeks, posts around here will start trickling in every couple of days. I have some fun things to write about, including but not limited to…

My new hobby flipping scooters on Craigslist

What life is like going from dual income to one income

Why we decided to sell my sexy Scion tC and take a stab at being a one car family

A kitchen makeover reveal post (featuring our new quartz counters and subway tile backsplash)

It’s been busy around here, hence the lack of posting, but I’m looking forward to getting back in to the habit of neglecting my wife from 9pm to 10pm so I can sit down and write a blog post for a bunch of strangers.

Any of those four blog post ideas above tickle your fancy? Or is there anything specifically you’d like to see me write about? I’m always looking for insight so drop me a comment and let me know.

And before you go, check out how cute my kid is…

  1. Welcome back! Glad to hear all’s well, and look forward to reading your posts! I too, would like to know how you manage to keep a white couch clean; it’s only me, my Hubby, and 1 long-haired tabby, and we can barely manager to keep deep-brown coloured couches looking pristine!

  2. Ah, we had that same outfit and we still use those same diapers…(my tadpole is 18 months now). Enjoy every moment and don’t worry about your readers. I’m most curious about how Girl Ninja is handling the changes of going from dual to single income.

  3. Love the baby and dog photo and am too wondering how you’re keeping that white couch white! I’d be curious how the dual income to one income change is affecting your family’s budget.

  4. As a proud father of a 2 year old boy, I know all too well of their ability to pee long distances.

I recommend you invest in the pee-pee teepee… a hilarious, yet ingenious invention.

  5. When I read the title of the post, the first thing I thought of was “The Hangover” when the dude says “but did you die?” I hope I wasn’t alone… 🙂

  6. Skip the white couch tips, as we all know that it looks whiter in photos than in person.

    Some ideas:
    -Networth update.
-Tell us more about flipping scooters.
    -New home projects.
-More investment calculations, and how they compare to prior predictions.
-Your opinion about investing in individual dividend-paying stocks vs stocks that don’t vs index funds.
-Would you rather invest in a S&P500 index fund or a smallcap index fund, and why?

  7. I live in a city and have been considering buying a scooter recently to get around and to/from work. I’ve looked on craigslist but the ads seem sketchy and I’m worried I’ll end up buying a piece of junk. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Also, enjoy the time with your son. None of our feelings are hurt (much) that you neglected us.

  8. I would like to hear an update to your previous post on how you decided to use your vacation, sick days, and FMLA leave time. What did you ultimately decide? Did you wish you did anything differently?

Also, it would be interesting to hear both yours and Girl Ninja’s thought’s on balancing your work from home situation with a newborn. Are the boundaries pretty clear? Have you moved your desk to your prev. tenants room to create a home office? Have there been any additional stresses or tensions created as a result?

  9. Congrats on the new baby! Read your posts before, but never commented. Looking forward to some of the new posts you have coming out. Always encouraging to hear others journey/experiences. Thanks for sharing. Hope everything continues going well for you and your family!
